The QNAP TS-459PRO 4-bay, TS-659PRO 6-bay and TS-859PRO 8-bay are all featured in the QNAP Atom NAS throwdown. All systems feature the Intel Atom D510 1.66GHz Dual Core Processor at its core and with the same installed memory, features as well as specifications, bare the number of bays in each system. This review highlights some of the salient features that are incorporated in the entire TS-x59 PRO NAS series, as well as detailing the backup options that are critical for achieving redundancy. QNAP has evolved and it remains for us to see if the NAS systems are keeping pace with the changing wind.

The Synology DS10101+ follows a strong pedigree of NAS devices manufactured by this specialist manufacturer. The DS1010+ is a 5-bay device that is packed with features and with quality software that will appeal to all. A reputation of always providing quality products, we were keen to see if the DS10101+ will deliver on its promises. Synology also provided us with a reviewers guide a first for any manufacturer and one we welcomed as a positive move towards communication with its users.

The Netgear ReadyNAS PRO follows on from where the NV+ left off, award winning, packed with features that will appeal to all, delivering leading edge performance, with ease of use all in a desktop small form factor chassis supporting 6 SATA-II channels and up to 12TB of storage. Will a strong reputation of being the fastest NAS in its class stack up? We were keen to get it in our labs and get testing. We discovered a few things we didn’t know before as well as being pleasantly surprised with a few features that were a walk in the park to use. This one is a must read!

The Seagate BlackArmor 440 NAS is Seagate’s knight in shining armor, leading the charge for Seagate as its first NAS device in the Data storage redundancy market for both business and professional home users. Stacked up with stellar back up options as well as a bevy of features and a handsome 3-year warranty makes this a NAS a serious consideration for any user that requires a storage solution that will work without too much intervention once setup. Nice one Seagate.
